Bernadič Marián

Prof. MUDr. Marián Bernadič, CSc., editor-in-chief

Marián Bernadič graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Comenius University in Bratislava – CU FM (1977), obtained his postgraduate degree at the Institute of Pathophysiology at the CU FM (1982) where he gradually held all positions from assistant to professor, from aspirant to head of the institute and 1st sub-dean of the CU FM. Apart from teaching medical students of all specializations, he devoted his time to students participating in Student Scientific Activities (as head of the SSC board) and senior students (as head of the state examination commission for thesis defense). He completed multiple study-stays at the University of Parma, lectured at dozens of congresses at home and abroad, mainly on the topic of developmental and postural changes in adolescent children and also experimental studies in the field of EKG markers of ischemic changes of the heart. He is the co-author and co-editor of the Principles of Internal Medicine 1.-3. (Ďuriš, Hulín, Bernadič), expert editor of Siman’s Principles of Surgery I.-V., co-author of seven editions of Hulín’s Pathophysiology, member of the editorial board of the Encyclopedia Beliana and Bratislava Medical Journal, author of multiple textbooks and monographs. He received the Literary Fund Award and multiple LF premiums. As an expert editor, he has participated in reviewing more than a hundred textbooks and monographs. He is also active as the scientific secretary of the Slovak Medical Association and member of its board. He has been awarded the Hynek Medal – the highest distinction of the CU FM. He is the honorary member of the SkMA and its multiple specialized societies. He is also a member of the Ethics committee of the Bratislava Self-Governing Region. He accepted the position of editor-in-chief of Lekársky Obzor in 2018.

Kilian Miroslav

MUDr. Miroslav Kilian, PhD., editor

Miroslav Kilian graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Charles University in Prague (2006) and defended his Ph.D. thesis at the Faculty of Medicine at the Comenius University in Bratislava (CU FM). His thesis was focused on the issues of the fractures of the proximal humerus. He worked at the 2nd Orthopedic and Traumatology Clinic of the CU FM and the UHB as a specialized assistant. At present, he is working as a trauma surgeon at the Trauma Surgery Clinic of the SZU Faculty of Medicine in Bratislava. He has taken multiple trauma-focused internships abroad (John Radcliff Hospital in Oxford, Trauma Clinic in Rijeka, Hand Surgery Clinic in Vysoká nad Jizerkou). In 2001–2005 he worked as an anatomy demonstrator at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine at the Charles University in Prague. He is a member of the AO Trauma group. His scientific papers have been published in medical journals at home and abroad. He is the author of multiple monographs. He has taken courses focused on publishing in scientific journals. He is currently focusing on the issues of upper limb trauma and holds an editorial position in the surgery section of Lekársky Obzor since 2018.

Žigrai Miroslav

MUDr. Miroslav Žigrai, PhD., editor

Miroslav Žigrai graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Comenius University in Bratislava. In 2004, he obtained his Ph.D. in the field of Wilson’s disease. Since 2006, he has been working at the 1st Internal Clinic of the SZU Faculty of Medicine, at first as a secondary doctor and a researcher later. He is a certified neurologist, specialized in internal medicine and hepatology, received certificates in diagnostic and interventional esophagogastroduodenoscopy, as well as abdominal ultrasonography in adults. At present, he is focusing on the issues of diagnosing and treating hepatocellular carcinoma, liver transplants and inborn metabolic liver diseases in adults.

His academic activities include undergraduate and specialized teaching in the field of internal medicine. He is a guarantor in both the specialized study in hepatology and the certified occupational activity study of abdominal ultrasonography in adults. He has been on hepatology and transplantology internships in the Hepatobiliary Centre of the Paul Brousse Hospital in Villejuif and the Transplantology Department of the Cardiovascular and Transplant Surgery in Brno. He is the author of multiple publications and the co-author of multiple chapters in monographs.

He holds an editorial position in the internal medicine section of Lekársky Obzor since 2018.
