SUMMARY

Resident study is a specialization study by the specialized field addressed by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, which is financed by the state budget until performing a specialization examination. The resident study conducted since 2014 has passed through several legislative and organizational changes. The Slovak Medical University maintains a leader‘s position, mainly on the union of general medicine and pediatrics, which were also the first specialization unions in which resident study was also implemented. For this period successfully completed the study in the field of general medicine (3 years of study) 95 and in the field of pediatrics (4 year studies) 33 doctors. Currently, at the Slovak Medical University in Bratislava, 278 residents study in 10 specialist fields designated by the doctor and 3 units designed for sisters.
