SUMMARY
Alzheimer‘s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia that affects 46 million people in the world. AD is associated with accumulation of Aβ-proteins in neurons, mitochondrial bioenergy dysfunction and oxidative stress. A new, non-invasive methodology of mitochondrial bioenergy in isolated platelets reveals changes early in AD. The aim of antioxidant and bioenergy therapy is to achieve „mitochondria health“.
Key words: Alzheimer´s disease, mitochondria, oxidative stress, antioxidants.
