SUMMARY
Background. The aim of this study was to analyse the perception of attitudes, experiences and beliefs of parents with vaccination in the group of parents with lower education, compared to the control group with higher (university) education.


Sample and methods. The study sample consisted of 2,111 parents who attended (2018 – 2019) pediatric and ophthalmology clinic, logopedic speech centre and maternity centers for children under three years of age. The respondents were devided into a group of 774 parents with lower education and a control group of 1,337 parents with completed university education.
Results. Parents with lower education obtainted the most informations about vaccination from a doctor (42.9 %;
p < 0 .001), while the control group had most often this information from the scientific literature (24.0 %; p < 0.001). In the group of parents with lower education we found significantly more parents who were against all vaccinations because of their adverse effects (15.9 %; p < 0.05) They expressed the opinion that vaccination is against human rights (26.2 %; p < 0.05) and there should be freedom of choice in vaccination schedule (31.1 %; p < 0.05).
Conclusion. These study results indicate the impact of parents‘ level of education on changing knowledge, attitudes and beliefs to give the child a vaccination.
