SUMMARY
Approximately one third of hospitalized patients are harmed by adverse drug reactions, including drug fever, which accounts for approximately 3 - 5 % of adverse drug reactions. The diagnosis is made „by exclusion“, risk factors have not yet been clearly defined. However, the exact incidence is not known due to the difficulty of diagnosis and insufficient case reporting. Vulnerable groups mainly include the elderly population burdened with polypragmacy and patients with an immunodeficient condition. This review article focuses on the mechanism of drug fever, describes the differences in the clinical picture and diagnosis, provides an overview of the most common drugs responsible for this complication of treatment.

Key words: fever, hypersensitivity, hyperthermia, idiosyncratic reactions, adverse drug reaction.
