Abstract
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, immunologically mediated disease that manifests with varied and variable signs and symptoms. Patients‘ quality of life is severely impaired by inflammatory conditions that lead to the formation of malodorous secreting lesions in the axillary and inguinal regions. To date, no medical specialty has successfully established general criteria for standard treatment, leading to variable care and unmet patient needs. It is also worth mentioning the fact that, due to misdiagnosis, patients come for treatment late, at an advanced stage of the disease, which has a huge negative impact on them, both socially and psychologically, and often leads to suicide (Tab 4, Fig. 3, ref. 12).
