SUMMARY
The Medical horizon (Lekársky obzor) is a scientific-professional medical journal intended for general practitioners. It creates a publication space for publishing original clinical, experimental and review papers. The journal is part of the worldwide Scopus database, its citations are registered in the SCI system. This is one of the reasons why it has become important for scientific and pedagogical procedures, a criterion in the implementation of the study plan within the 3rd level of higher education, or in the assessment of grant applications. Our ambition is to advance to the higher PubMed and WOS databases. The paper brings important information about evaluation systems current contents (CC), impact factor (IF), Hirsch index (HI), but also the latest trends in the evaluation of journals using quartiles (Q1 – Q4) and the classification of journals according to expertise in this system. The author suggests the possibilities of rebuilding the magazine for entry into new database systems. This requires the cooperation of all authors of papers in the Medical horizon (Lekársky obzor) and the systematic work of the entire editorial team.
