Dentogenic follicular cysts

Abstract
INTRODUCTION. The insufficient development of the retromolar space is directly related to the impaction of the lower third molar according to the growth of the ramus mandibulae. In the same way, with today‘s way of eating, there is not enough effort when chewing, which leads to a loss of stimulation of the growth of the jaws, and therefore the occurrence of impacted teeth is more frequent.

CASE REPORT. Trigeminal neuralgia represents one of the most unpleasant painful conditions in the orofacial area. Disease of the fifth cranial nerve is manifested by attacks of intense electrifying pain in the innervation area of the branches of the trigeminal nerve. With the increase in dentogenic follicular cysts in the lower third impacted molars, we encounter trigeminal neuralgia more and more often.

RESULTS AND CONCLUSION. Early diagnosis and early surgical removal of the lower third retained molar along with total extirpation of the follicular cyst leads to the removal of the local cause of neuralgic pain. Although trigeminal neuralgia cannot always be cured, early diagnosis and removal of the local dentogenic cause leads to the patient‘s recovery (Fig. 7, Ref. 4).  Text in PDF www.lekarskyobzor.sk.
