Abstract
INTRODUCTION. Among citizens of the Slovak Republic, 82 new cases of HIV infection (76 in men and 6 in women) were diagnosed and epidemiologically investigated from 01.01.2021 to 31.12.2021. During this period, 9 cases of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) and 6 deaths of patients with HIV infection were diagnosed and reported. Most HIV-infected people live in larger cities, and the highest cumulative incidence of HIV infection has been in the Bratislava region for a long time.
OBJECTIVE. Health care of HIV-infected persons is guaranteed by Act no. 576/2004 Coll. on health care, services related to the provision of health care and on the amendment of certain laws as amended (hereinafter referred to as „the law“). According to § 11 par. 1 of the Act: „Everyone has the right to the provision of health care“.
CONCLUSIONS. According to § 11 par. 2 of the Act: „The right to the provision of health care and services related to the provision of health care, including cross-border health care, is equally guaranteed to everyone in accordance with the principle of equal treatment in health care and in the provision of goods and services established by a special regulation“ (Ref. 11).
