Abstract
Mitochondrial transplantation is an invasive therapeutic intervention in which dysfunctional mitochondria are replaced with healthy exogenous mitochondria that are capable of fusing with endogenous mitochondria in recipient cells.

The result is regeneration of mitochondria, improvement of their functions, increased ATP production and replacement of damaged mtDNA in recipient cells. Mitochondrial transplantation opens new horizons for diagnosis and targeted therapy of dysfunctional mitochondria in many organs (Ref. 32). Text in PDF www.lekarsky.herba.sk.
