Abstract 
Hernia operations are currently one of the most common surgical procedures. 

However, there are cases that take even an experienced surgeon by surprise. This group includes rare types of hernias, which even an experienced surgeon will encounter only a couple of times in his life. New possibilities of diagnostics and modern imaging techniques allow surgeons to prepare even for such cases. It must be said that for a number of rare hernias there are no standardized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The aim of the work was to bring an overview of rare types of hernias and outline options for their diagnosis and treatment (Fig. 6, Ref. 50). Text in PDF www.lekarsky.herba.sk.
