Acute aortic dissection is a serious, life-threatening condition. Typical symptoms of acute aortic dissection include acute onset severe chest pain, but it can present with dysfunction of another organs due to ischemia, or sudden onset shock or death. It is a rare disease and has common symptoms with another, but not only cardiac dissease, therefore is often late diagnosis, whether this diagnosis is not keep in mind.

The authors described three patients with acute dissection of ascending aorta. At the beginning, two of them did not have chest pain, on the other hand, third patient had typical chest pain, typical murmur on the heart, an incorrect diagnosis was made in accord with changes on electrocardiography. At the beginning, in all three patients this diagnosis was not keep in mind, and diagnosis was confirmed by computed tomography with contrast. The patients underwent urgent surgery, which saved lives of them.
