SUMMARY
A polluted environment creates unfavorable living conditions that negatively affect human health. The rapid development of modern society combined with the high demands of individuals has resulted in a high production of harmful substances.
Environmental pollution can manifest itself in metabolic disorders, the production of chemical stress substances, changes in hormone levels, disorders of reproduction, impaired orientation and, in extreme load, even death. Sick, debilitated or weak individuals react very sensitively to environmental pollution. In humans, it is necessary to protect the fetus, newborn and mother during pregnancy. In this work we deal with environmental stress factors, the current state of the environment in Slovakia and present the most polluted regions in the Slovak Republic.
Key words: environment, health, stress factors, polluted regions.
